David started training in the Korean Martial Arts in the mid 80s under Dr. Park, Cha Sok. Work moved him around the country for several years of his training. While not allowing him a long period in one place, it did provide a chance to study under several great teachers. After settling back in Northern Virginia he found Northern Virginia Hapkido.

Under the tutalage of Holcombe , Larry and Mike he has focused on getting his formal ranks. David holds a 3rd Dan from the Kukkiwon in Tae Kwon Do, been awarded a teaching certificate as Kyo Sa Nim by Novahapkido and has earned his Ee Dan from the KHF in Hapkido.

David currently trains with his son Nick
